Special Diwali Presentation on Lord Lakulish
Over the past several years, I have been gathering information on Lord Lakulish to complete my MPhil work at Lakulish Yoga University. The selection of this topic came to me spontaneously as I was researching Yoga and Alchemy at the suggestion of Swamiji Rajarshi Muni. I came across the name of Lakulisha and his followers who were described as the group of yogis who established the practices that eventually led to the Nath yogis -- many of whom attained divine bodies out of their austerities. The connection piqued my curiosity. I had known evertything there was to know about Lord Lakulisha, or Dadaji as he is known in this lineage, but realized that I did not know that much about his origins or his disciples or even his core teachings.
My research began to pull together everything that was ever written about Lord Lakulish from the scriptures, to archeology, to images that are found in temples today. I was quite surprised by how many references were in the scriptures and how many images of Lakulishji are present in temples throughout India. As part of the slide show, you will be able to see so many of these beautiful images of Dadaji.
It is surprising that even though Lakulish or Dadaji was indeed the 28th and most recent incarnation of Lord Siva, not many people know the stories of his arrival and his teachings, or how great an impact he made on his arrival in the world. Together, we will explore the scriptural evidence for his incarnation, the exact time that he made an appearance, and the lineages of teachers that followed his arrival. So far, I have given this presentation to about 300 people in four different audiences in India who all were surprised at how much they learned about Dadaji.
After attending a presentation in India, Mehul Patel shared that “
